Oil Show Postponed Until 2021

Odessa, TX – The Executive Committee of the Permian Basin International Oil Show met to discuss how to proceed with a safe and productive show scheduled for October 20-22. Although it was a very difficult decision, the Committee came to an overwhelming decision to postpone the show.

The disruption of the PBIOS is the first time the show has had to reschedule the event since World War II.

According to the Committee, “It is not realistic to move forward with the show since our priority is the safety of our exhibitors, attendees and contractors. With the increase in Covid-19 cases in most states, the show has been postponed until October 19-21 of 2021. This decision was not made lightly and only after many discussions, thoughts and alternative ideas were considered.”

Renee Henderson-Earls, President and CEO of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, agrees with the decision to postpone under the current conditions.  “The PBIOS is a huge economic driver for the month of October. They normally have 35,000+ attendees and many of them from around the world. They stay in local hotels, eat at our restaurants, and shop here. We were all looking forward to this year’s event for obvious reasons but with COVID-19, we understand why it was just too risky this year. We look forward to making the 2021 show even better!”

A biennial event since the end of World War II, the Oil Show has grown to represent the very fabric of a great industry. It serves as an international marketplace, where hundreds of booths and exhibitors fill the Ector County Coliseum. Whether an executive, an engineer, a geologist or an operator in the field, PBIOS has had something for everyone. The Oil Show has been known for its gathering of producers, service companies, investors and innovators, where ideas are exchanged, friendships are made and deals are born.

The Permian Basin International Oil Show is one of the oldest and largest oil and gas exhibitions in the world.  Since 1940, this international event has showcased the latest industry technology, honored the history of the industry and brought together people from every facet of the oil and gas industry.
